Great investment for a well-planned trip!,
I purchased this book to help plan our activities on a recent trip to NYC. The amount of information included is incredible! There was thorough information on every attraction and neighborhood that we were interested in visiting. There was a tear-out folding map that we did not take on the trip with us, but there were several maps included throughout the book that we referred to as we worked our way through the city. The information provided was accurate (as Frommer’s always is) and the full-color pictures were very nice.
As I stated in the title of my review, I think this was a great investment for our trip, especially at the Amazon price!

|I’m writing from my hotel in Chelsea…,
Being on location, I can attest to the usefulness of this book as a guide and reference. Although I lived in Manhattan years ago, things have changed a lot. I needed a guide to find new restaurants and shops, locate bookstores, get updated on the subway system, and check the hours of museums.
I got all that – as well as explicit directions on which subways and buses to take to wherever I’m going. The book is well written too. Behind every description I sense the presence of a friendly, knowledgeable person who has truly been to that boutique or taken that walk.
Frommer’s Guide aims to be comprehensive, but precisely because it does cover so many aspects of the tourist’s experience, it might miss some charming little inn or offbeat restaurant that would be of particular interest to you. For that you may have to do some Internet research. But on the whole, if you want just one guide that covers (almost) everything, I’d recommend this one.
